Whenever I visit an exhibition I am also curious to stop by the museum store. They are sometimes just as well curated as the splendid show I came to see. I love to browse through the pick of fancy things from selected small brands. Like the minimalist wallets from Carré Royal, timeless designs manufactured from the finest materials and with the potential of a lifelong companion.
Simplicity at its best, I fell in love with Carré Royal’s envelope clutch. For almost one hundred years the envelope has been the perfect wrapping for letters and documents. Carré Royal’s clutch comes in that same classic shape and is made from lambskin plongé, one of the softest leathers I have ever touched. It fits the basic things I need to take for a night out. And the nude tone nicely matches the lime stone walls of Palma’s old town.
It was only last year that Carré Royal introduced a wallet in printed canvas. With a zipped pocket for change and three slots for cards in an unmistakable print the mini purse is an ideal piece for small shopping. The „Cool Wallet“ also comes in bigger sizes but here I personally prefer the plain canvas wallet. Particularly in brighter shades such as yellow, red or light-blue. They accentuate their minimalist style and careful workmanship.
Carré Royal opened its first workshop in the early fifties and has elaborated its style and materials to what it is today. The portfolio of the French brand includes classic wallets, purses, card-holders and bags in different sizes and a wide range of colors. For their collections Carré Royal only uses European canvas and full-grain leathers from French and Belgian tanneries. Over time they get a fine patina that makes them clearly your own.
