Pizza vista mare: Piadina e Vino

Whether you run, skate, cycle or just stroll around, the boardwalk is always a place to be. I love the bay of Palma especially at this time of year when the low sun turns the sea into a huge mirror. Along my way via Portixol and Molinar towards Ciudad Jardí there are many places to take a break. Some of them not so nice and a few rather overpriced but also a couple of really cozy joints. Like Piadina e Vino.

The small Italian restaurant just a little behind the wind rose of Molinar is the perfect location for lunch before heading back to Palma. As much as I love Mallorcan cuisine, every now and then I just crave a pizza. One with a thin and crispy crust, sun-saturated tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. Just like the one they make at Piadina e Vino.

Next to pizza the menu offers a good choice of Italian classics. From antipasti to fresh pasta to risotto. And, of course, piadina. Enea Cavalieri Gramanti and Tanja Alavanja brought the recipe for this typical thin flatbread from the Romagna. And made it a signature dish at their ristaurantino on Mallorca.

While the sun is out and warm on your face, maybe you just sit back and order another espresso and a mango-coconut semifreddo. Watch the play of light on the Mediterranean sea. And look forward to the time when we can stay again for a drink and follow the sun setting behind the Tramuntana.
