May on Mallorca, time again for an event as unique as the location where it takes place. More than 70 artists, craftspeople and designers from around the world show their heritage textile works. Carefully curated for the 6th edition of XTANT and accompanied by other pieces of art, scents and accessories. All displayed in the most beautiful historic palace on the island. A feast for the senses of everyone passionate about beauty, culture and craftsmanship.
From May 10-13 there will be workshops, exhibitions and the unique makers market at two marvelous locations in Palma. Learn about weaving, mending and upcycling. About basketry and tie-dye from master craftspeople and designers. Traditional techniques are the focus of a series of special workshops.
Makers Market
While you have to sign up for the classes the makers market at Can Vivot is open to the public. A spectacular setting that at first glance reminds of an Arab bazaar. Where you find colorful fabrics draped on wooden frames, large woven tapestries rolled in straw baskets, richly embroidered shirts, robes and kaftans, and aromatic scents and essences.
Four days of inspiration, talks and networking. And maybe a bit of shopping, as well. XTANT Huaca is one of the most comprehensive representations of global textile heritage knowledge.
Invitation to Look Deeper
Textiles have always been woven into the realm of the revered. Or huaca, as it’s called in the Quechuan languages of South America. Cloth has wrapped people at any time of their lives. And particularly in ritual, like a thread binding the material and the immaterial.
Hence the ambition of XTANT Huaca goes beyond panel discussions, sales exhibitions and get-togethers. The organizers also consider their event as an „invitation to look deeper, to be inspired, to seek meaning and connection“ while celebrating the art of textiles with a global gathering of textile artisans and creatives.
XTANT Huaca 2025 runs from Friday 10 May to Tuesday 13 May. Find the complete program, here. And a story of a visit at Can Vivot, right here.
