Lunch in the shade of palm trees or dinner under the stars, surroundings and atmosphere are essential elements of a meal. For me dining outdoor is a treat for all senses. Mallorca offers countless restaurants, bars and cafés where you can eat on the terrace, on the patio or in the garden. To make your choice a little easier I have compiled my personal Top 10 outdoor dining. The best restaurant terraces on Mallorca, from tapas bars to starred restaurants, from chiringuitos to urban oases.

The view from the terrace of Béns d’Avall alone would have earned a star. Among gourmets, the restaurant between Deià and Sóller has long been an insider tip. This year, it was actually awarded a Michelin star. Those who love refined Mallorcan cuisine and are looking for a romantic place will love Béns d’Avall.

A long tradition also characterizes Café La Lonja. Here the focus is on authentic tapas. Served on the terrace next to one of the most beautiful buildings in Palma. Locals and travelers enjoy their coffee, a drink and small dishes in front of the old sea trade exchange. At Café La Lonja time seems to stand still, a haven of peace in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Ca na Toneta has been one of the pioneers of contemporary local cuisine for years. The charming restaurant is located in the pretty mountain village of Caimari. Run by the sisters Maria and Teresa Solivellas who are among the island’s best chefs. Their passion for good food is palpable. And the lovely patio of Ca na Toneta is decorated with witty murals by Mallorcan artist Albert Pinya.

Located in picturesque Fornalutx is the restaurant Es Turó. Friends of traditional Mallorcan dishes regularly stop here. The terrace amid blooming flowers and trees offers a wonderful view of the surrounding Tramuntana mountains. The Busquet family has been running Es Turó for more than 25 years. And you can tell they are proud of their work.

One of the most beautiful urban oases I know is the patio of Fera. Having lunch under the airy canopy while the sunlight softly breaks through the foliage is pure bliss. Thanks to the lush garden but even more so to the cuisine of Simon Petutschnig and his team. At Fera they know how to combine Mediterranean heat and passion with Asian soul.

Patiki Beach spoils you with a choice of delicious Mediterranen dishes. The lovely restaurant at the end of Playa Repic offers a fabulous view of Port de Sóller and the surrounding Tramuntana range. Raw ingredients are the stars of the menu, combined with a large dose of spices, nuts and flavors. No matter the season – at Patiki Beach it always feels like summer.

S’Arenal de Portocolom is actually a chiringuito. A beach restaurant, but what a beach restaurant. At first glance, the scenery looks like a picnic in the sand. Indeed, the beach bar atmosphere is extremely relaxed. The drinks are fab and the tiny kitchen of S’Arenal offers great bar food and excellent fish dishes.

When the sun sets at the horizon Son Terrassa comes to life. The family-run restaurant near Cas Concos clearly lives up to its name. The beautiful terrace is the perfect location for a sunset dinner of traditional Mallorcan cuisine. While you enjoy each course the sun slowly sinks behind the hills of the Plà i Llevant. Bathing the blooming garden of Son Terrassa and the famous wine region in golden light.

The restaurant Son Tomas in Banyalbufar also has a long family tradition. How wonderful to sit on the terrace in the cool breeze and marvel at the endless blue of ocean and sky. To relish the food, the vista, and the atmosphere of Son Tomas. And instantly feel at ease in one of the most beautiful Tramuntana villages by the sea.

Last but not least there is Suculenta. Due to the alphabetical order and because it is the latest addition to this Top 10 of best restaurant terraces on Mallorca. Located directly on the pier of Port de Sóller where yachts and fishing boats are moored. You can hardly be any closer to the sea. The cuisine of Suculenta combines the best of the Mediterranean sea and garden. And the bar alone, with its views over the bay of Sóller and the Tramuntana mountains, is worth a visit.

Let me know which restaurants you would like to add to the list of best places for outdoor dining. Estilo Palma
