Light is flooding in through the large windows from the plaza and the atmosphere in the salon is as cheerful and bright as the weather outside. What started out as a place for professional hair- and beauty treatments has become a one-of-a-kind neighborhood store in Sa Gerreria. “Puerta abierta, vecino que entra” reads the motto above Botons’ entrance.
Get a new hair cut, a manicure or a massage. Or just drop in for a coffee and a chat. With an open kitchen, a kids corner and lots of carefully chosen vintage furniture Botons feels like a second home.
Cecilia Meireles and Cayetana Zorita had been close friends for years when they decided to share more than their time off. Caye joined her friend’s peluqueria and together they moved it from Carrer Botons to the corner of Plaça Raimundo Clar, keeping the original name.
On their nights out Caye and Ceci always loved to discover beautiful things. Today, they introduce them in their own shop: a fine selection of clothes, jewelry, accessories and ceramics from small local brands and designers. Plus a wonderful choice of all-natural and toxic-free cosmetics.
There’s always something going on, small events like the opening of a temporary exhibition, a clothes swap, or their own anniversary party. And Caye told me about their plans to grow and expand, creating more space for the team of seven and their ideas. I’m already looking forward to more Botons.
