Dancing in the street: Hermes Pompa & friends

October 3, 2020October 4, 2020
Hermes Pompa

Palma’s cathedral is usually the backdrop for countless tourist selfies. This year, however, the Palmesanos have it almost for themselves. Today, Hermes Pompa, finalist in 2018’s Got Talent España, and his friends took the stage at Parc de la Mar. Practicing stunts and choreographies, having a good time recording video clips. The group doesn’t have a name yet but I’m sure Hermes Pompa’s banda will be popular on TikTok in no…

Rhythm and food: Van Van Palma

May 31, 2019June 1, 2019
Van Van Palma

There is music in the air. The smell of grilled food mingles with that of draught beer. Smoke from charcoal rises above Parc de la Mar where a diverse crowd of people is enjoying themselves and the summer vibes.  My first encounter with food trucks was years ago in New York. Then I got to know the street food festival in Vancouver and fell in love with the unique atmosphere right away. In Barcelona, Van Van Market has become the most popular food truck event. This weekend a special edition of…

Learn to fly: Acroflow Yoga

May 22, 2018October 4, 2020
Acroflow Yoga

An early evening at Parc de la Mar, a quiet spot on the grass, the cathedral to my left, the Mediterranean to my right. Half a dozen yoga mats are arranged in one line as we practice “tug and roll”. Kind of sideway somersaults and just as much…

Winds of Mallorca There‘s an old Catalan song, Winds of Mallorca

There‘s an old Catalan song, Jota Marinera, that tells about the wife of a fisherman. She was always watching the wind. Because - if it came from the east or west, she did not have to worry about her husband. But if it came from another direction she knew it could be stormy and dangerous.

Window to the sky. Sa Gerreria is one of Palma‘ Window to the sky.
Sa Gerreria is one of Palma‘s oldest neighborhoods. For many years it has also been one of the poorest. The graphic novel „Historias del Barrio“ takes us on an autobiographic time travel back to the 80‘s. More about a very moving read on EstiloPalma.com
