Soft to the touch: Sita Murt

Sometimes, the looks of things only tell part of the story. You have to use a second sense in order to fully get it. That’s what happened to me on my first visit in Sita Murt’s shop on Carrer Sant Miquel. I have always liked her classy, minimalist style – straight cut shirts and dresses, light jerseys or slim pants. But it was only when I felt how soft and light the materials are, that I fell for the brand.

One day I was lured inside by a bright red that caught my eye – to find out that it was a lovely T-styled jersey, just the kind of basic you need on a day that asks for colors. And besides, a perfect match for a pair of linen pants hanging next to it.

Sita Murt, a Catalan fashion designer, started to create her own line of women’s wear more than a decade ago. But until today and with little exceptions like Paris, her shops are almost entirely located in Spain. Something quite unusual in the globalized world of apparel. In my opinion, however, the fact that there are some things you don’t get all over the world makes them even more precious.
