Brunch time: Café Elefante Mallorca

While the Mediterranean diet is enormously varied and full of flavors, traditional breakfast on Mallorca has always been rather frugal. And something like brunch did not even exist. For some time now, specialty coffee shops have been successfully stepping into this gap. One of them is Café Elefante Mallorca. The favored Sant Agusti café recently opened an offshoot in the heart of Santa Catalina. Serving most delicious health food, from crunchy breakfast pots to daily deli bowls.

In Mallorcan families it is often the parents and grandparents who prefer a hearty snack in the morning. A slice of pan moreno, dark unsalted bread, with olive oil and tomato. You don’t need much more to start the day. Yet the kids usually love the sweet stuff. At Elefante Mallorca the whole family will be happy. The new café is located directly opposite the market hall in Santa Catalina which makes it the perfect place for a break.
