No matter what time of the year, a bright cotton dress or a light blue shirt always put me in a summery mood. When I step into the Braez store in Palma, the natural shades, soft materials and comfortable, yet clear-cut clothes instantly conjure up feelings of sun and leisure time. You might think of a new Mediterranean label, but no.

The brand was founded in Amsterdam more than 20 years ago, allegedly with the ideal pair of cargo pants. Made in Istanbul from local eco-cotton Braez’ collection has broadened since, also using other natural fibres like silk, viscose or terry cloth. What didn’t change though is that typical soft touch. Today, Braez offers fashion for women as well as for men, including tees and shirts, long sleeves, dresses and pants. I like their casual styles and the details that make them special, like open seams or slightly asymmetric cuts. Some of them might become beloved basics.

The store also offers a few lovely accessories like hats, bags and scarves that go perfectly well with Braez clothes. The signature pieces, small bracelets and beach towels bearing a prominent star logo are designed by store owners Wiepke Brandenburg and Don Van Schie. They started with Star-Ibiza on Mallorca’s glamorous sister island and now opened their first store in Palma about a year ago.
