Beautiful things: Pop-up otoño

When Christina from Maravillas Bags invited me to the next Nucli pop-up otoño, I didn’t really have a clue what it would be like. She told me a little about the two sisters who were gathering lovely pieces handcrafted on the island and presenting them in a three-days store in their private rooms somewhere on bubbly Plaça Espanya. So when I went over there in the morning I was curious to learn more.

The so-called Universo Nucli is a stunning apartment on the fourth floor of a magnificent edificio modernista. Ketty and Neus, the two women behind the project, were greeting their guests most warmly, showing them around the place. Ketty introduced me to the store’s concept. Many young brands start with few objects only, whether it’s garments, leather goods, pottery, or pieces of furniture. In the beginning, often they don’t even have an outlet or online store.

Nucli’s pop up gives them an opportunity to present themselves. Four times a year, that is at the beginning of the seasons, Neus and Ketty compile a new selection of beautiful things. And invite their friends and friends of their friends to meet in a very personal, relaxed atmosphere to browse through the carefully selected pieces. It’s the novelty that make pop ups special – set in a historic environment like Nucli’s, it’s all the more unique.
